The Homemade Suds brand was born during Lisa Valdez's first experience with soap making. She enrolled in a class just for fun and a few days later she made her first batch of soap - She was hooked! Her Passion for soap creations bloomed from there. She began blending oils and herbs and creating fragrances and before long, her whole family had bars of Homemade Suds in every bathroom.
Homemade Suds has since been featured in many Farmer's Markets and craft shows in the Houston area. The demand for Homemade Suds has proved successful and it brings Lisa great pride and joy to introduce Homemade Suds: her online store. Homemade Suds can't wait to provide your home with wonderful soap creations for all of your bath and beauty needs.
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.
Individuals with SMA have difficulty performing the basic functions of life, like breathing and swallowing. However, SMA does not affect a person’s ability to think, learn, and build relationships with others.
SMA affects approximately 1 in 11,000 births, and about 1 in every 50 Americans is a genetic carrier. SMA can affect any race or gender. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.
Many children who have SMA are confined to wheelchairs, need assistance sitting up, have weakened immune systems and require constant treatment. Our granddaughter, Emma, is constantly in and out of the hospital not only for treatment, but even for just the common cold due to breathing issues associated with the disease. Her life expectancy was 18 months and she just turned three this year. She is, without a doubt, a fighter and we couldn't be more proud.
Cure SMA leads the way to a world without spinal muscular atrophy, the number one genetic cause of death for infants. They fund and direct comprehensive research that drives breakthroughs in treatment and care, and they provide families with SMA the support they need for today.
Due to the research and discovery efforts of Cure SMA, they have made leaps and bounds in how to treat and sustain life for SMA patients such as Emma. In their thirty years of practice, they have made life saving changes for the families of SMA survivors and their foundation is essential.
